Your first visit

What actually happens when you arrive.

Nothing here is a surprise. This is the whole of it, in order.

Arrive fifteen minutes early

Not for admin — so you're not walking in flustered. Reception is a person and they'll be expecting you by name.

Shoes off, phone away

Shoes go on the rack by the door. There is a basket for phones in the hall; almost everyone uses it.

Meet the teacher

You'll be introduced before class starts, and it's the moment to mention a knee, a shoulder, or a bad week.

Take any mat you like

Everything is already laid out. Blankets and bolsters live on the shelf; take what you want, put it back after.

  • Lost propertyKept for a month on the shelf by the door. After that it goes to the charity shop two streets over.

Access

Being straight about the building.

Step-free from the street

One shallow ramp at the door and no internal steps. The practice room, changing room and toilet are all on one level.

An accessible toilet

One accessible WC with grab rails. There is no separate accessible changing room, which we know is a gap.

What we can't fix yet

The doorway to the store cupboard is 70cm and the building is listed. If that affects you, email and we'll work around it.

Practical

Questions about the room

Are there showers?

No. There is a changing room with lockers, a sink and a mirror, but no showers — the building has never had the plumbing for them.

How warm is the room?

About 20°C for Slow Flow and Morning Practice, and a little cooler for Grounded. We do not run a heated room and have no plans to.

Can I leave things here?

Lockers are free and unassigned during class. Nothing can stay overnight, except a mat if you've bought one from us.

Is there tea?

Hot water, three teas, honey and a jug of cold water. It's free, and the kettle is always on before the 6am.

Come and see

Drop in and look at the room.

You do not need to book to have a look. If reception is staffed and there's no class running, someone will show you round.
